Job Title: Human Resources Officer

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Human Resources Officer to manage and support the full spectrum of HR operations within the organization. The ideal candidate will oversee recruitment, employee relations, compliance, performance management, payroll coordination, compensation and benefits administration, and HR strategy implementation.
This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while delivering efficient HR services that enhance employee satisfaction and organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
HR Administration
- Review and update HR policies and employee handbook to ensure compliance with labour laws and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Maintain organizational charts and employee directories.
- Prepare HR reports and recommend initiatives to reduce employee turnover and absenteeism.
- Coordinate management training on recruitment, performance management, safety, and workplace policies.
- Manage relationships with external vendors providing HR-related services.
- Develop and maintain HR systems and reports to support management decision-making.
- Prepare and monitor HR operational budgets.
Human Resources Planning & Staffing
- Anticipate staffing needs in line with organizational objectives.
- Manage recruitment processes to ensure fair, transparent, and effective hiring practices.
- Coordinate staff onboarding, induction, and probation processes.
HR Strategy & Operations
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance HR efficiency.
- Establish and maintain HR procedures, systems, and departmental records.
- Participate in setting departmental goals and objectives.
Recruitment & Selection
- Source, interview, assess, and select qualified candidates for vacant roles.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs for new employees.
Performance Management
- Administer performance appraisal systems to ensure effectiveness and fairness.
- Support salary administration and employee development initiatives.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
- Analyze salary structures and compensation data to maintain market competitiveness.
- Administer employee benefits including pensions, insurance, leave, and welfare programs.
- Conduct compensation benchmarking and wage surveys.
Employee Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related employee concerns and inquiries.
- Handle disciplinary and grievance matters in line with company policies.
- Foster positive employee relations and workplace culture.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide recommendations based on findings.
- Advise management on employee relations and conflict resolution matters.
HR Operations & Employee Satisfaction
- Maintain high employee satisfaction levels across HR services.
- Ensure timely resolution of HR-related requests within established service timelines.
- Monitor HR response metrics and employee feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MBA or Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ HR experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
- CIPM certification or relevant HR certification is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office applications.
