Purpose of the Role
The General Manager will lead and establish the Nigerian entity, ensuring operational excellence, contractual compliance, and sustainable business growth.
In close collaboration with the Business Development Director, the General Manager will:
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with the Customer at all appropriate levels to ensure successful delivery, operations, and long-term partnership.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with relevant industry and institutional stakeholders to support business objectives and long-term positioning.
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the local entity, ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations and corporate standards.
- Assume full accountability for local P&L, operational performance, customer satisfaction, and stakeholder management.
- Define and execute a growth strategy to secure renewals and generate additional business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Governance
- Lead all local operational and functional activities through function leaders within a matrix organization.
- Deploy corporate systems, processes, and policies, ensuring full compliance with group standards and local regulations.
- Ensure alignment with Regional and Global Functions, providing consolidated and accurate reporting.
- Uphold and protect the company’s image, reputation, and compliance standards in Nigeria.
2. Operational Excellence
- Coordinate and optimize all operational activities to meet contractual obligations and internal KPIs.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery across all dimensions.
- Oversee resolution of customer escalations and drive continuous service improvement.
- Ensure effective management of performance, organization, resources, and assets.
- Lead risk management, crisis management, and business continuity planning in accordance with corporate policies.
3. Financial Accountability
- Full ownership of local P&L.
- Lead planning and budgeting processes.
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs to ensure sustainable profitability and performance.
4. Commercial & Strategic Development
- Support sales objectives and contract renewals in close collaboration with the Business Development Director.
- Contribute to defining and implementing a local growth strategy.
- Identify and pursue additional business opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic positioning.
5. Stakeholder & Customer Management
- Act as the senior representative of the company towards Customer and key project stakeholders.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Manage relationships directly or through partners, agents, or consultants as appropriate.
- Build constructive relationships with relevant industry and institutional stakeholders.
6. People, EHS & CSR
- Lead and develop the local team, with HR support from Headquarters.
- Manage employee relations and ensure compliance with local labor regulations.
- Ensure effective management of EHS, security, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Profile – Knowledge & Skills
- Senior executive with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in General Management or equivalent leadership roles.
- Proven ability to identify critical business priorities and mobilize the appropriate resources, processes, and governance to achieve strategic objectives.
- Strong experience operating in project-driven and contract-based business environments.
- Demonstrated capacity to balance long-term strategic growth with the effective delivery of ongoing operational commitments.
